Sailing Inconceivable #21: Sailing Into the Sunset, and OMG OATMEAL!!!

This week, a little breakfast, where to put the winch handle holder, and a nice long all day sail to watch a little dinghy race.

What is it about sunsets from the water? I was heading down to clear the bridge and the Sun was golden river of shimmering sparks.

Ugh… I love sailing!

The music in this and pretty much every episode is original — Written and recorded by M. Hans Liebert.

Sailing Inconceivable #20: Freebie Chartplotter Install

In this week’s episode, Hans dives below deck, again, to wire up a freebie GPS unit generously donated to the Sailing Inconceivable cause.

He also makes a batch of mac & cheese, so you really don’t want to miss it!

Oh, almost forgot: He does some dishes, too!!!

It’s all very very exciting.

Sailing Inconceivable #19: Sailing with the ones we love!!!

In this episode, Inconceivable sees a lot of water. Hans takes some of his family, in from out of town, for a ride on the lower bay.

Then, Lynn and Max join Hans for a beautiful run out Rockaway Inlet. Lynn sees dolphins, and again Hans can’t get a shot of them. Finally, a romantic sunset dinner on Inconceivable’s bow.

Sailing Inconceivable #18: Captain Lynn Goes Sailing, Whisker Poles, and an Eclipse

In this episode, a rigging suprise dramatically alters our downwind abilities. Yes, the mysterious whisker pole we found on board when we bought Inconceivable finally gets deployed. And, bonus, works great!!!

Hans and Dan test the pole on a sail out to see the partial eclipse. So cool, and lots of fun.

Then, after a short beach walk, Lynn and Hans take their friend Esther out for a relaxed excursion off Coney Island… Oh, so many Max kisses for Esther.

The music in this episode, and pretty much all of Sailing Inconceivable, was written and recorded by Hans.

Sailing Inconceivable #17: Sailing the Atlantic, Hurricane Planning, and Family Beach Time

This week, Inconceivable head out into the Atlantic for the first time. Hans is (just a little) into it! The rig is tuned and showing it, and the ocean swell is so cool!!!

Next: What do we do incase of a hurricane. We have a plan (ish) – Hans goes over the possibilities.

Finish off with a little family time at Jacob Riis Park – Lynn, Hans, and Max enjoy the water on the sandy side of the Rockaway surf zone.

Once again, the music is all original, written and recorded by Hans.

Sailing Inconceivable #16: Spiders, Canoes, and Fly-bys

WHAT?!?! No sailing?!?! Sorry, it’s true. This week, Hans heads off to Wisconsin, the land of cheese, for a family / friend reunion.

Of the tip of Door County, nestled between Lake Michigan and Green Bay, is beautiful Washington Island. Hans’s family has been coming here for decades, every year, at the appropriately named Sunset Resort. Big skies, and big water.

Every day brings something new, whether it’s storms, low flying aircraft, boat rides… All the while, sharing time with friends and family.

Our thanks to the Gallerts, Sanders, Lusbys, Spitlers, Krugs, and Lieberts for a wonderful summer.

Sailing Inconceivable #15: Exploring an Abandoned Airport, and Gunkholing Dories and Skiffs

Max and I take a short walk, across the street and through the gate, to one of the most storied places in aviation history. Floyd Bennett Field, New York City’s first commercial airport, is a hidden gem.

Then, back to Sebago Canoe Club for the annual Traditional Small Boat Cruise – Dorries, Sharpies, Skiffs of all kinds – across the bay, and through the marshes, spartina glowing, and creeks flowing.

Sailing Inconceivable #13: Blowing Bubbles, Lost Fenders, and Dolphin Sightings

TO THE BEACH!!!… again! More beach sculptures, impromptu beach cleanup, and in the process, Lynn finds a bubble wand and Hans finds two, yes two, matching, yes matching, fenders… Allow me to explain why that happens, and how to avoid it!

Then, Hans takes a group of his closest friends for a beautiful sail across the Lower Bay for a swim in eel infested.. Uh, i mean, dolphin (and jellyfish) infested waters.

As always, the music in Sailing Inconceivable was written and performed by Hans specifically for this video series.

Sailing Inconceivable #12

In this episode of Sailing Inconceivable, birds eat fish, kids learn sailing, and Hans takes his sweet little boat out for another solo sail.

Lynn and Hans have gotten into the sea life surrounding them on the boat. Particularly, these little Least Terns – The way they flutter their wings before plunging to the surface for fish – So neat. Max does not seem as impressed.

Tuesday morning, some volunteer sailing instructors from the National Park Service showed up with a couple dozen school kids in tow. They took the girls out on the bay to teach them the basics of sailing. We had no idea this was a thing. Cool!

After Lynn and Max took off, Hans tries his hand at another solo run. Three hours got Inconceivable to Ambrose Channel and back, passing Coney Island along the way.

All the music in Sailing Inconceivable was written and performed by Hans for this video series.

Sailing Inconceivable #11: Lynn Makes Her Shine. Hans Takes Her for a Solo Sail

Lynn hits the brightwork with gusto… Seriously… Had to drop the camera’s exposure a few stops because that white deck was blinding. Scrub scrub scrub!!!

Then, after her bath, Inconceivable goes sailing! That’s right!!! Hans’s first solo sail of 2017! He takes her up Rockaway Inlet before being chased back by an approaching storm. Short, but still super fun!
